New ideas for your business may bring a need for a new website or a refresh to your existing one. At VVITCH, new Squarespace websites are one of our most popular services — especially for small businesses and creatives.

Whether your business sells a tangible product or in-demand service, or your business offers your abilities as a photographer or event planner or other creative, having a website that showcases your products and services will always make you easier to find for interested customers.

The hard step can be deciding which direction is better for your website needs: a fully custom build or a semi-custom site that’s easy to update after it launches. For small businesses and creatives who are running their business solo or with a small team, we’ve found clients benefit from using Squarespace as their website platform for a few key reasons.

Squarespace Is User-Friendly and Easy to Update on Your Own

Squarespace is known as a user-friendly platform and that makes it easy to complete regular updates on your own without any web development experience or help from our team.

The drag and drop editor makes the process of creating new pages simple, especially if you want to create layouts without knowing any code such as HTML or CSS. Additionally, text changes and adding new images is a breeze.

And when you hire VVITCH for a semi-custom site design, we provide you with step-by-step instructional videos as part of the launch process to ensure you know how to make updates on your own. As always, we want you to leave every project feeling confident in how to utilize your new tools.

Caters to a Variety of Content Types, Such as Blogs and Portfolios

Squarespace makes it especially easy to add a blog or portfolio area on your website. As a content management system (CMS), Squarespace covers all the bases for small businesses and creatives. Here are just a few of the types of content Squarespace supports:

  • Blog Posts

  • Photo Galleries

  • Video Content, either embedded from YouTube or hosted directly on your site

  • Events and Workshops

  • Products and eCommerce, for physical products, digital products, services, subscriptions, or online courses

  • Digital Courses

Built-In e-Commerce Functionality Made Easy for Small Shops and Retailers

Squarespace also has built-in e-commerce functionalities that make it easy to get small and simple online storefronts up and running in no time.

You’ll be able to add all the necessary basics, such as product images, multiple SKUs, and variants, as well as set your own shipping rates and policies. We recommend Squarespace to anyone selling a small number of products (<50), but VVITCH does recommend that for more complicated e-commerce sites our clients use Shopify.

Squarespace Customer Support Is Always Helpful

Squarespace has something that is rarely available, or of quality, from software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms: customer support that is highly responsive and fantastic to work with if you need them.

On many projects we’ve had to reach out to them for minor issues and we and our clients have received swift and helpful responses. The Squarespace Help Center is also home to a wealth of information if you need it.

Compared to Fully Custom Sites, It’s the Budget-Friendly Option

A fully-custom site can add up in cost very quickly, and Squarespace’s all-inclusive nature means that you can more easily keep your costs in check. Here are just a few of the ways you’ll save by using Squarespace.

  • You’ll save time on development costs by using a semi-custom template (and we’ll include the cost of the template up to $500 when you work with us to build your site).

  • WordPress and Shopify rely heavily on Plug-ins and Apps, that can expand the scope of development and the cost of monthly subscription fees.

  • Squarespace offers you domain name services and hosting services, so you won’t have to purchase from other companies to get your site live.

  • Rapid build schedules cut down on overall back and forth between you and our team, and get you a usable site fast, so you can bring in more revenue.

How to Get a New Semi-Custom Squarespace Website in Only a Few Weeks

Sounds like Squarespace might be what you’re looking for with your new website? Our service for a semi-custom website in weeks is a great option for a new Squarespace site build.

We work with small businesses and creatives across industries year-round on new website builds, and they return to us for other services because of the seamless process of working with VVITCH and the quality of their new site.

Our semi-custom websites are delivered through a streamlined process that will have your brand online in as little as four to six weeks. Here’s more about the process from start to finish:

  • VVITCH will send you a custom quote based on the number of pages on/desired for your site and the custom features or integrations involved.

  • If you decide to move ahead with us, you’ll have to sign a contract and pay a deposit to hold the spot on our team’s calendar.

  • For the next two weeks, we’ll put together site requirements for you to review, as we gather any images, assets, or log in details we will need to build and launch your new site.

  • The requirements process also includes selecting a premium design template that will bring your branding and content to life on your website. In order to speed up the build process, we work with other design studios to purchase a premium design template. But don’t fear, your site will still look completely unique and on brand!

  • Once requirements are approved and assets are gathered, our designer will build out your Squarespace site over the course of two to four weeks, depending on the size of your site. You will receive two opportunities to provide us with your feedback before we launch.

By starting from a template, our team is able to move quickly and provide you with a faster process that also makes securing a new site more budget-friendly.

You’ll still have an end result that is designer-approved, with all of the crucial details attended to for your site, and ensuring that the final site is on-brand and polished. For example, we built the website for Los Angeles photographer, Steadfast Studio, using the Gigi Rose Template from Big Cat Creative. You can barely tell the site came from a template!
